Everything was delicious. We had the avocado side to start. It came with a small bowl of crispy grasshoppers you could use to garnish. Crunch crunch! We ordered the short rib, black cod and the tamal with a side of summer squash. It was all good but the cod and tamal were the standouts. I had the Barleybomba barleywine beer from next door – it was superb. My dinner mates were likwise pleased with their cocktails.

This brunch menu makes a lot more sense knowing Katsuji Tanabe helped put it together. It’s eclectic and for most of the dishes we tried, it works! With the exception of my dish (the breakfast sandwich with the churro bun that got a bit soggy) everyone else’s dish was flavorful.dishes that had the lobster were the most nuanced in my opinion. The Lobster Eggs Benedict wasn’t overpowered by a strong hollandaise sauce which let the lobster speak for itself. The same went for the Lobster Quesadilla which paired well with the blistered shishito peppers.

XOCO restaurant The best Mexican place in Chicago. Must try the taco. Chicken tinga is super yum and grilled veggies are must try. We took a takeout so it was super quick. Service is excellent. Packaging is good, out food was warm and fresh. Will come here again soon to try more items.

Very nice! Quaint even…. this was my first visit and the staff served us fast and friendly with smiles… they were attentive, patient and knowledgeable about their products offered.
Excellent Mexican fare well spiced and very flavorful. The star was the Short Rib Tlayuda and the taco carnitas. We ate inside and all the food came out immediately as it was prepared including the churros at the end. The chicken tacos were okay but nothing special. A unique twist on guacamole fully loaded with toppings. The margarita was too sweet for my preference. There was a short line to get in at 6:00 on a Saturday. A very long line had formed as we left at 7:00.

Love this place. food is delicious no matter what you order. The Pollo and Carne tacos were so good and the sauces were delicious. The vibe is pretty lively and serve is friendly and quick. Maybe request the “off menu” spicy sauce if you like your stuff with a kick. Definitely check out this place!

I’ve been wanting to go here for a while now and I am so glad I finally did! I was surprised that we didn’t even have to wait long for a table since it was booked completely online. Super trendy tacos here and the patio is huge. I got a walking taco which was amazing with fritos and beans, the cauliflower taco was an explosion of flavour and chicken taco had a mole which was delicious. We were so happy to be dining again with La Mejikana after the pandemic started AND as a new family of four. We came in on a Saturday right at open and never had any issues with other patrons being seated to close. The wait staff and cooks were extremely accommodating and helped us come up with a great kids meal option for our 9 month old twins, we were also provided with highchairs. The Langostinos, always our go-to, did not disappoint, and the wings were to die for. This place is ALWAYS worth the 45 min drive
